”Initiate Countdown”

Countdown is more than a song by Beyonce’; it was the closeout show and the close of Season two for FIGHT! NYC. Another season had led to this, and there were the highest of highs and some setbacks but not extreme lows for Todrick Tabor-Ramsey. She had come a long way, and no one could stay at the top of the mountain forever. She didn’t let losing the Manhattan Championship at Silent Fight break her, but she continued to put her very best foot forward, and tonight she had battled her best friend Ricky Rodriguez in another match that brought the house down. He really was one of the best wrestlers she had the pleasure of competing with. His work in the ring and on the mic was something that improved every time he set out to entertain the masses.

Their back and forth battles over the years had seen both of them take victories and defeats, but it was always such a close call. Tonight had been no different. So many times, he had the upper hand and almost took the victory that made Toddy change her strategy and momentum. He came to win tonight, and everyone knew it. She knew it, and she could hear Austin’s voice coaching her. In truth, it was his strategies and techniques as they watched tape of Ricky that helped. Austin had pointed out little things that Toddy had never noticed.

It worked, and for once, Austin was backstage watching the match instead of being involved in backstage shenanigans. After an exchange of respect, Toddy made her way backstage and fell into Austin’s arms with tears in her eyes. He held on to her, and they made their way back to their room.

Austin Ramsey: Go shower, and then I got something you can countdown and before you hop on it.

Todrick rolls her eyes and begins stripping off one article of clothing at a time as she slowly makes her way to towards the bathroom. Austin, a pro at this, is already naked on the bed with his arms behind his head as he watches her with growing lust. She stands at the bathroom entrance and bends over.

Countdown initiated; here he comes in 3…2..1.

Austin was predictable, and he grabbed her hips, walked her into the bathroom, and shut the door behind them.

”Part Of Your World”

🧜🏼‍♀️ ”Look at this stuff, isn’t it neat?
Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?
Wouldn’t you think I’m the girl, the girl who has everything?” 🧜🏼‍♀️

Todrick had watched The Little Mermaid earlier and was cleaning the house and singing the soundtrack. She was the embodiment of Ariel in this moment. She had her hair underneath a red bandana, a purple cut-off shirt, and green boy shorts on. She stops vacuuming the floor and looks around The Ramsey House. She had everything that she wanted. Austin had spared no expense to give her the desires of her heart. She had everything, but something was missing. She still had a longing for something her Prince Eric could not give her. She longed to be a part of a world that she felt like was out of her reach.

🧜🏼‍♀️ ”Look at this trove, treasures untold
How many wonders can one cavern hold?
Looking around here, you’d think, sure, she’s got everything.

I’ve got gadgets and gizmos a-plenty
I’ve got whozits and whatzits galore
You want thingamabobs? I’ve got twenty!
But who cares? No big deal
I want more.” 🧜🏼‍♀️

She had recently asked Austin if he would no longer love her if she began to transition. That question and his response had been on her mind since that day. She had wondered if that’s what was missing. It was her mermaid tail, and if she transitioned, then she would get the legs and feet that she needed to be a part of that world that her Prince could walk so freely in. If you looked at him, he fit into their world, he was a confident, masculine male, but when you looked at her, she was different. Would the transition finally make her feel like she was a part of his world? Would they finally understand her on land? She wanted more for her and him.

🧜🏼‍♀️ ”I wanna be where the people are
I wanna see, wanna see ‘em dancin’
Walking around on those, what do you call ‘em?
Oh, feet

Flippin’ your fins, you don’t get too far
Legs are required for jumping, dancing
Strolling along down the, what’s that word again?

Up where they walk, up where they run
Up where they stay all day in the sun
Wanderin’ free, wish I could be
Part of that world” 🧜🏼‍♀️

She began to cry as the thoughts started to overwhelm her. She wondered how it really felt for him to walk around with her and how people looked at him. Why couldn’t she just be normal? Why couldn’t she be comfortable in her own skin? He had never given her any indication that any of this bothered him, so why was she feeling this way now? He had always stated the opposite. Why did the world have to judge her? She was just trying to live her life and be the best person she could be. But the boxes everyone wanted her in kept saying they wanted her to stay in the sea and not explore the shore up above.

Her Prince Eric had always protected and loved her no matter the situation. He would sit and stare at her across the table with such love in his eyes. Who needed Prince Charming when she had Austin Ramsey. He didn’t care who saw him holding the hand of the “freak” in make-up. When people called her a freak, he didn’t let her hand go; instead, he grasped a little harder and pulled her closer to him. Still, would this transition allow her to be out of this sea and lay on the sand all day in the sun? Would she finally be able to wander freely? Would she finally be a part of that world?

🧜🏼‍♀️ ”What would I give if I could live out of these waters?
What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand?
Bet’cha on land they understand
Bet they don’t reprimand their daughters
Bright young women, sick of swimmin’
Ready to stand

And ready to know what the people know
Ask ‘em my questions and get some answers
What’s a fire, and why does it, what the word?

When’s it my turn?
Wouldn’t I love, love to explore that shore up above?
Out of the sea
Wish I could be
Part of that world.” 🧜🏼‍♀️

Sure she was confident in who she was, but she wanted more. She wanted to know what was that missing link. She would give anything to have her lifestyle considered normal outside of the waters she lived in. Sure some people understood and had a fairy tale life where they were accepted by the family and friends no matter what, but she hadn’t grown up like that. She was beaten if she did that “sissy shit,” especially when her mother was not home. She wished that her father had understood that his son was feeling like his daughter. She didn’t want to be reprimanded for trying to be herself. The television showed the other girls all standing on land, and they no longer had to swim in the sea.

She wanted to ask them her questions, and they answer her and tell her that it was not a big deal. She was normal. She wanted new experiences and the ability to explore who she truly was. There was only one way to make that happen, and she’d have to make a deal with the evil sea witch, so that’s exactly what she did.

”Poor Unfortunate Souls”

🧜🏼‍♀️ ”The only way to get what you want is to become a human yourself.

Can you do that?

My dear, sweet child. That’s what I do. It’s what I live for.
To help unfortunate merfolk like yourself.
Poor souls with no one else to turn to.” 🧜🏼‍♀️

Todrick had been in three other wrestling companies that hadn’t worked out for her. She began her career in AGW, then was in Fade 2 Black until it closed its doors, then it was off to OPW until it closed, and now she was at FIGHT! NYC’s doorstep still looking to get rid of this tail and get her legs. Something called Blood Money was about to start, and all anyone knew was that it was going to be something that the wrestling world hadn’t seen before. So she put her best foot forward and cooked some gumbo and described her opponents as ingredients, and pulled it all together.

Now some would say that she had earned her legs being a part of those other companies, but she hadn’t. Her booking was sporadic, and it was mainly her stablemates of Royal Anarchy that got booked. Everyone focused on Samuel Chatman and Austin Ramsey. She felt like an afterthought with the booking, so she hadn’t gotten her legs. Now she was in the cavern of the sea witch about to sign the scroll. She had one chance to get this right. She had to focus on herself and not her Prince. She needed to make a difference. So she closed her eyes and signed the scroll; she saw her voice float out of her throat and into the shell but around the neck of whom?

Much to her surprise, it was her Prince who would soon to seek her, losing it forever. She made it to the top five in this free-for-all brawl where it was every man and woman for themselves. At the time, she hadn’t realized that she flourished when her Prince was eliminated because he made the early part of the show about himself. Her voice didn’t matter; to him, she had the legs she had been seeking, and he wanted to make a name for himself. He had become angry and aggressive. She was okay to be his valet, but he didn’t want her in the ring.

So he began his destructive quest of causing her problems in her career. They were in therapy for quite some time before he had a breakthrough. Then she was finally allowed to flourish at Toxic Tag. The shell had been broken, and she had her voice back, and now she also had her legs. That one victory would change the trajectory of her life as a wrestler. Finally, people were starting to take notice of her in a big way. She had earned the right to challenge for the Manhattan Championship. That was the number two title in the company, and if she won that, she would make them all see that she was now a part of their world. She had to win at all costs.

So she trained and fought until the day came and the bell rang. When the dust cleared and her hand was raised in victory as she proudly held onto that championship belt, she had done it.

She was no longer that poor unfortunate soul that everyone told her that she would always be. This title belonged to no specific gender; this title didn’t care what was between her legs. She had done something that few had done in this heterosexual sport that made many happy and made many cringe. She had done it in full make-up and wrestling attire that some protested because it wasn’t traditional male attire. She had the title, and now she had gone from “that bitch” to “the bitch.” She clutched that title tight for several months and destroyed all that came across her path.

“Under The Sea”

🧜🏼‍♀️ ”Ariel, listen to me
The human world, it’s a mess
Life under the sea
Is better than anything they got up there

The seaweed is always greener
In somebody else’s lake
You dream about going up there
But that is a big mistake
Just look at the world around you
Right here on the ocean floor
Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin’ for?” 🧜🏼‍♀️

Todrick was on top of the world, season two was here, and she had a solid grip on that Manhattan Championship. She had never been hotter, and the fans adorned her with praise and love every time she saw them. Things between her and her Prince couldn’t be better. They were out on the open sea, and she was comfortable because she had proven that she was a strong swimmer. Then it happened, she had been called out by the legendary Chris Page, and much to her surprise, he turned into Sebastian and started trying to drag her back Under the Sea. He made it his mission to remind her that she was still a part of the sea and that something was missing from the world that she thought she was walking in. All that she had worked so hard for, all her fears about being a part of their world were dashed and destroyed worse than Triton’s trident could have ever done.

🧜🏼‍♀️ ”Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling, it’s better
Down where it’s wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore, they work all-day
Out in the sun, they slave away
While we devotin’
Full time to floatin’
Under the sea

Down here, all the fish is happy
As off through the waves, they roll
The fish on the land ain’t happy
They sad ‘cause they in their bowl
But fish in the bowl is lucky
They in for a worser fate
One day when the boss get hungry
Guess who’s gon’ be on the plate?” 🧜🏼‍♀️

Page began a merciless campaign to make Toddy know that he was not entirely a part of their world. He even went as far as to have her arrested for “heterosexual bashing” who had ever heard of such. Jail had changed our little mermaid, though, and she was toughened, but the doubts crept up that she was still not a part of their world. Thus the thoughts of a complete transition had begun to fill her head. She wanted her legs once and for all. But there would be so many changes. But if she did this, would she still be her Prince? Would she still be able to see her mother, her family, and would the entire world as she knew it change?

“Kiss The Girl”

🧜🏼‍♀️ ”There you see her
Sitting there across the way
She don’t got a lot to say
But there’s something about her
And you don’t know why
But you’re dying to try
You wanna kiss the girl

Yes, you want her
Look at her; you know you do
Possible she wants you too
There is one way to ask her
It don’t take a word
Not a single word
Go on and kiss the girl” 🧜🏼‍♀️

Todrick had been voiceless on this subject for so long, but it was time to talk to her Prince about her feelings. She approached him slowly and nervously. He could sense her apprehension and gave her his full attention. She would accept whatever he said and was prepared to accept whatever answer he gave.

🧜🏼‍♀️ ”Now’s your moment
Floating in a blue lagoon
Boy, you better do it soon
No time will be better
She don’t say a word
And she won’t say a word
Until you kiss the girl

Don’t be scared
You got the mood prepared
Go on and kiss the girl

Don’t stop now
Don’t try to hide it how
You want to kiss the girl

Float along
And listen to the song
The song say kiss the girl

The music play
Do what the music say
You got to kiss the girl
You’ve got to kiss the girl
Oh, don’t you wanna kiss the girl
You’ve gotta kiss the girl
Go on and kiss the girl.” 🧜🏼‍♀️

At first, he made light of the situation because he had a hard time with a serious conversation, but he quickly brought it back and said the words that she longed to hear. He would love her no matter what she did, and he wanted her to be happy, but he made her promise to do it for herself. He held her and made her feel that everything was okay. He reminded her that no matter what, she would always be a part of his world, and that world was the world she was living in. He restored her confidence and gave her so much to think about. She had gone on to prove him right at Countdown. Ricky had even reminded her that she was a part of that world. She was unstoppable and deserved every accolade she had earned. Finally, the Prince kissed his girl.

”I Am A Part Of Your World”

After walking their dogs, Austin Ramsey comes into the house and sees his wife deep in thought. He walked up to her and kissed her on the top of her head. She looked just like a fairy tale, and he knew that his Ariel was dreaming. She was a dreamer, but she also got results.

Austin Ramsey: “Don’t move, I’m going to record you, and you are going to talk about Blood Money 2. Just be natural, my Princess Ariel.

Todrick begins to think to herself, “This is why I love him; he called me Ariel just based on how I’m dressed. We were meant for one another, and no one will ever be able to convince me any different. I love you, Prince Eric.

Austin begins to record Todrick, who makes a cute face and smiles as she looks into the camera on his phone.

Todrick Tabor-Ramsey: Here we are about to start the third season of FIGHT! NYC, and we find ourselves where we started in uncertainty. The tower was nearly destroyed at Countdown. Dane Preston has been in a coma and in the hospital, and we all went on with our daily lives. I, too, am guilty of this. I should’ve picked up the phone to check on Allison, but she had so much going on, and we hadn’t gotten that close so I kept my distance. I am not a part of their world. After two seasons, you’d think we would’ve done better. But hey, there is always season three to rectify things like that. All of my best to their families.

But what is important is Blood Money 2 is in a few nights. Now you might feel that you know how this will go, but if you’ve ever watched FIGHT programming, you learn to expect the unexpected and never expect the same thing twice. This time, we won’t be in the tower; we will be down in Orlando at Disney. We will tear up the magical land, and I just hope Mickey and Minnie escape unscathed. Everyone will be out for themselves, friendships will be tested, and temporary alliances will be formed for mere minutes. It’s cutthroat under this sea, and this mermaid thrives in the water. Hell, if I have to go through my beloved Prince Eric to see my hand raised in victory, then that’s what I will do.

The last time I made it to the top five, this time I’m going all the way to the top. What about the NSQ, you ask? Well, Countdown showed a crack in their armor, didn’t it? They just knew that they would hold all of the gold in FIGHT, but they underestimated two of us after all their huffing and puffing and lost the Islands Championships. Now sure, Betsy Granger captured the Manhattan Championship but was there ever any doubt that she’d lose to Michelle Moore? Michelle’s bark is much worse than her bite. Sure, she beat me but look at what happened to her; she got the crown that she deserved when the Queen’s Championship was bestowed upon her. The crown finally fit, and how satisfying was it to watch her completely lose her shit?

Anywho, now they have all the singles gold, but I guarantee you that every person on the roster has noticed that tear and will begin to exploit it. Words are meaningless when the curtain is pulled back, and the magic is revealed. Disney is full of magic, but I have learned to live and thrive under this sea. I have faced the best and earned the right to say that I am a part of your world. No one has been able to snuff out my light completely, and when I return, I have always shined bright, and this is no exception.

I find myself the number one contender for the Brooklyn Championship and ready to take it all at Blood Money. Sure we have our regulars on the roster, and all the girls think they will be the ones to conquer the House of Mouse, but let’s face it, I’m the girl who has had three movies and dominated the TV show. It wasn’t Cinderella, she had three movies, but that was the end of her reign. It wasn’t Snow White who finally has the love of his life. It wasn’t the dwarves, the one that fucked the doctor, the one that is dirty and mooches off of Ani; it wasn’t sleepy, some of the roster that we’d all rather forget all wrapped up in one fat dwarf. It wasn’t happy, the jokester of NSQ. It wasn’t the cute one that is unraveling and is an on-again, off-again member of NSQ.

It wasn’t Dumbo who lives in the land of Brooklyn; the cartoon was cute, Sis, but we all know the live-action version was a flop. It will be the same when we face one another. You faced one of those wonderland pests but let’s face it; she is not the blockbuster that I am. Prepare for your most significant challenge to date, and should we cross paths, I’ll be more than happy to give you a preview of things to come.

It won’t be the hyenas from the Lion King, the laughing clown who is “scary,” the guy who can’t seem to let Bam Miller speak for himself, or any of the other “guests” that want to come and take what some of us have worked for months to achieve. Stay over in the dark part of the land and continue to feed on the scraps that your homes offer you. You won’t find the meal you are looking for over here.

Under this sea, my sea, I have it all, and I crave to swim to the top and conquer it all. There is no sea witch, shark, or predator that will get in my way. Ask all those that counted me out and then had the pleasure of facing me. I don’t go down easy, and I have a knack for surviving. My number is rising, and I’m going to take it all this time, and do you know why? Because after all that I have accomplished in FIGHT, I now know that I am a part of your world. I already have my Prince, so the only thing left to do is conquer the world at Blood Money 2 and then have a celebration that all the people have been dying to see. See you at Disney. Muah.

Austin stops recording and looks at her the same way he looked at her when he first saw her. The two embrace, and the scene fades.
